Not sure how active this forun is, but I figured I'd give posting here a shot.

I'm somewhat new to blackmsithing, but have a foundation in welding and related metal joining processes.

I'm enjoying trying to hammer old scraps into interesting shapes and hoping to have finished my first set of set of tongs soon!

My current anvil is the front face of a busted 8lb sledge hammer that I welded to some angle to and clamp in my bench vise. My secondary anvil is the one built into said vise... It's not ideal to say the least lol

Time to graduate to my first proper anvil, and I refuse to buy some cast iron junk from princess auto when theres perfectly better ones looking for a loving home. If you happen to know an anvil that needs adopting, shoot me an email at: bigMetal@shrug.anonaddy.com

Please note, I will not buy/trade/accept anvils that haven't been fully dewormed and have had their first round of shots

    If you have experience with:
  • making your own shop tools (from press brake, roller mill, hardy tools, to hammers)
  • Online resources with free/inexpensive plans for projects
  • Tips on making dough blacksmithing (hopefully covering the cost of materials)
  • or just want to talk shop
