Dear,

my name is Quirin Schmid I am twenty years old and a passionate artist blacksmith.

At the moment I am working in a traditional artist blacksmith company in southern bavaria (<a style="text-decoration-line: none; color: #4285f4;" href=" removed link "> removed link ) . We´re mainly working southern to Munich but we also have customers in Russia, USA and the United Kingdom. In 2025 I´d like to work with blacksmiths and travel the world and for this reason i'm asking if you could need a helping hand for some time.

My father is a self-employed artist blacksmith and I more or less gained my first experience looking over his shoulder. In September 2020 I started my apprenticeship which should take 3,5 years, but because of my excellent performance, I finished six months earlier.

I am very experienced in Stick, MAG and specially TIG welding. At my actual working place I work alone most of the time, so for me it´s normal to work self-sufficient.

Punching holes spuare or round, is even slanted no problem for me. Riveting and forging different leaves is also part of my job. We mainly produce railings, stair railings, garden gates, door/window handles and grave crosses.

In my spare time I like to hike in the beautifull Bavarian mountains, play the guitar in a traditional Bavarian band or practice my smithing skills. At the moment I´m trying baroque leaves.I´m also a qualified and experienced hunter and love to work on my family´s alpaca farm ( <a style="text-decoration-line: none; color: #4285f4;" href=" removed link ">www.alpakahof-riegsee.de )

This auction may be of interest to some OABA members because of the crossover blacksmiths and machinists have in using some of the same shop power equipment and hand tools.

I picked up on the link provided in the OABA website and watched Pat Taylor's 'Lumberjack Boom Dog' video. Pat's narrative on the subject matter is informative and engaging. Watching Pat forge a Boom Dog from 1/2" round bar was fascinating to say the least. I found this video inspiring, and I'm wondering where else in my forging journey I'll be able to use the techniques he demonstrated. I'm heading off to the forge right after this is posted to make a Boom Dog of my own in an attempt to cement in my mind the process and forging skill I just observed. Great video Pat, thanks for the lesson!

I will be moving there come fall for university and would like to bring my tools in case I have the free time to make some things. So if anyone has shop space there for rent or something that would be awesome, also if you know of any sort of small industrial space I could use for cheap. You would also be totally welcome to use my tools provided you take good care of them. The things I have are: ribbon burner forge (w stand), anvil (w stand), leg vise (w stand) 2x72 (w stand), mig welder, plasma/tig/stick multi process, blade/tool steels ( I'll probable also take some mild steel bar but leave most of my mild steel at home), bronze and other non ferrous metals, As well as a couple 100# propane tanks and of course an assortment/plethora of hand tools and abrasives. I am also planning a 25-30 ton press build. I could bring my compressor too if possible. I will be leaving my drill press as it is large and my dad will need it at home anyway. I am able to fit my stuff in a fairly small garage curently so I wouldnt need a huge space. Hope t hear from some of you!

I have permission from Country Heritage Park to use their facilities for the club.

I am looking for mentors that may want to spend a day with us, providing beginners with some tips. From now until March it will be more informal, but I'd like to get some confirmed guest Mentors to schedule for next year. If you are interested, please send me an email.
