Iron Trillium Newsletter

OABA produces a quarterly newsletter, The Iron Trillium, which keeps members up to date on any technical developments in the field of blacksmithing and informed of workshops. It serves to help the widespread membership know what each other are doing. Of particular interest to new members are the ideas to be found in the newsletter. These are submitted by OABA members or gleaned from other newsletters from across North America.

Members can download the most recent newsletters and have access to our great Iron Trillium Archives by logging in.

  • Must be a member of OABA for at least one year
  • Must have attended at least one OABA event in the past year
  • Will be attending a qualified educational opportunity whose primary focus is blacksmithing and whose cost (specifically excluding travel, lodging and food) meets or exceeds the value of the scholarship

Candidates will apply in writing or by email to the OABA executive, who will select on the basis of the aforementioned cirteria.  If no qualified candidates apply, or if no candidates are deemed acceptable, no scholarship will be awarded for that year.  The overriding consideration of the OABA executive to consider will be the advancement of the knowledge for OABA as a whole and blacksmithing in general.  The amount of the scholarship will be at the discretion of the OABA executive, up to a maximum of $1000.

Successful candidates must agree to, in the twelve months follwing the termination of their educational opportunity, do the following:
